Great weekend for littermates Sky & Marshall

A super Mother's Day weekend for littermates Marshall and Sky from our Hendrix litter (Parker x Trixie).  Laura and Marshall, CH Grayhart's In From the Storm, RN, CGC, made their debut in the Rally Advanced ring and qualified two day in a row to earn two of the three required legs towards the Rally Advanced title.  The Rally Advanced course is done entirely off lead and Marshall showed nice attention and worked happily with Laura.  Although Laura has shown Weims in the conformation ring for years, Marshall is Laura's first rally/obedience dog and she is doing a great job and more importantly, have lots of fun!
Debbie and Sky, CH Grayhart Lightfoot Early Morning Rain,RN,TD, JH,AX, MXJ, CAT, NSD, NRD,CGC, VX2 showed in agility down in South Carolina at the Masters level and double Q'd (qualified)!!!  That means that in the same day, Sky qualified in both Masters Standard and Masters Jumpers.

Marshall new Rally Novice title!!!

Marshall, (Parker x Trixie)is now CH Grayhart's In from the Storm, RN!

Marshall earned his Rally Novice title this weekend at a double trial on Saturday in Kansas with owner/handler, Laura.  This is Laura's first foray into performance events and Laura and Marshall are doing a super job.  Marshall made his debut in the Rally Novice ring in October at the Weimaraner Club of America National Specialty and earned his 1st Rally leg with a 1st place!  Then on Saturday, in the morning, Marshall qualified for his 2nd leg and again, won the class with a 1st place!  At the afternoon trial, Marshall again qualified, this time with a 2nd place and that gave him his 3rd leg to complete his RN or Rally Novice title.

We are so proud of the hard work Laura has put into training Marshall and look forward to seeing what they do next!

Happy 3rd Birthday to our Jimi Hendrix (Parker x Trixie) Litter

Jimi Hendrix pups 36 days old
This was our first litter and all of these pups, not so little anymore, hold a very special place in our hearts. We have enjoyed watching them grow up and made lasting friendships with their owners, all part of our Grayhart family.  Even though the pups are spread across the country, from Long Island, NY & New Jersey, to North Carolina and Kansas, we get regular updates/ pictures and have had a number of mini-reunions. These dogs have accomplished so much and continue to excel in whatever their owners ask, from conformation, agility, tracking, hunting and just being the best family companions ever.

Happy Birthday to...
  • Marshall, CH Grayhart's In From the Storm (training for obedience)
  • Sky, Grayhart Lightfoot Early Morning Rain, JH,TD,RN,NSD,V, CGC (major pointed)

Happy New Year!

Bliss, Grayhart's Launch My Line, our beautiful Alaskan princess.

2010 was a busy year full of family, friends and of course, Weims. We couldn't have imagined all the fun times and successes brought by the Grayhart dogs and their dedicated owners.  A highlight of the year was the Weimaraner Club of America National Specialty in May, in Gettysburg, PA, where every dog we had placed or won their classes in multiple venues and the wonderful time we spent with friends from all over the country.  Truly a time to be proud of our dogs. The AKC also welcomed us into their Breeder of Merit Program.

Last year was not all good times and we suffered a devastating loss, losing our beloved Wotan but we cherish the wonderful memories and time we shared with him.
We are grateful for all the support of our wonderful puppy people who give our pups the best homes possible.
***
We hope 2011 will bring everyone good health, happiness and prosperity.

Banner day at the WCA Futurity/Maturity

We couldn't be prouder of our pups who competed in the futurity/maturity. Above, Mason, Grayhart's Daily Special, owned by Jen Woods & Matt Zwetolitz, won the Jr Dog Futurity class!
Trudy, Grayhart"s Special Reserve, owned by Barbara & Rich Alfieri & Linda Hartheimer, was awarded a 2nd place. Big thanks to Pat O'Brien for doing such an awesome job handling these two energetic pups out of Trixie and Zeke.
From our Trixie and Parker litter, Marshall, Grayhart's In From the Storm, handled by Susan Line and owned by Laura Roehrich, was awarded 3rd place in his Maturity dogs class. Jam showed well in her Maturity and made the first cut but with a class of almost 20, the competition was stiff. And the woman in the green suit with the big smile, in all the pictures is me, the very proud breeder.

It has been an amazing week and tomorrow is the conclusion of the WCA National Specialty.

    WCA Nationals here we come!

One of the highlights of being involved in dogs is being able to attend your breed's National Specialty show. This year, the Weimaraner Club of America's National Specialty show is in Gettysburg, PA and we are beyond excited to go and meet friends, showcase our dogs, compete in various venues (conformation, obedience, hunt test & agility), see dogs from all over the country, attend the Breeder's Education seminar and of course, shop! There will be a Grayhart reunion and eight of our pups will be in attendance, with six competing in the show. Additionally, there will be an important legislative presentation by Phil Guidry, Legislative Analyst, AKC Government Relations Department and Dr. Noa Safra, DVM, will be speaking on the HOD research study as well as updates on the recently discovered HUU gene in Weimaraners and other important health issues effecting our breed.

    Sneak peak

A preview of two of the fabulous shots of Sky (above) and Marshall with Laura (below), taken by Sara Renee during their photoshoot at the WCA Central Futurity in Indiana.
Sara Renee is an extremely gifted photographer, Weim lover and dedicated dog rescue hero. We were so excited when Sara agreed to accept our request for this assignment, even though she was showing her own girl, Vera, at the Futurity, who showed beautifully and earned a 2nd place in her class. Bonnie Lane and I wanted to do something very special for Laura to celebrate her finishing Marshall's show championship and being the first Trixie and Parker champion. We think that this was the perfect gift!
