Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing all our family and friends a wonderful Thanksgiving!
***
The stunning picture above is Trixie, posing in cashmere for Banana Republic, taken by photographer Richard Phibbs, and this ad appears on the Banana Rebublic website today, promoting their day after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday sale. There may even be in-store displays with her image...I'll just have to check out the store tomorrow.
***
Update: I visited the local Banana Republic store and was quite excited to see this poster of Trixie everywhere! There was a giant size version in the store window and poster sizes located in the men's and women's departments with the cashmere sweaters she is promoting. I am proud of Trixie, our star!

Is she or isn't she?

On top of my usual busy and fun schedule this week, which has kept me from updating the blog and I do have some terrific field pictures to share, we've been patiently waiting for December 11th to roll around to confirm if Trixie is pregnant via ultrasound. It is too soon to see any physical signs but in a few weeks, it will be apparent. I caught her in the act, perusing my desk for goodies, whether it be a leftover cracker, post-it note or whatever strikes her fancy.

Yippee!

This was our cool picture of the day from our field training session on Monday. Katie, Hibourne's Foolish Pleasure, Jam's half sister (Mariah/Parker), owned/bred by Bonnie and Steve Lane, is at the beginning stages of her exposure to birds but boy does she have natural ability and thinks the birds are something to jump about!

Exciting Litter Plans - Trixie and Clay

Trixie has been bred to Clay, Multiple Best in Show, Champion Bzyfeet American Idol!
Clay won Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club show in 2007 and Best of Opposite in 2006.
Clay is a gorgeous male, with elegant type, correct movement and a stable, friendly temperament. In addition to being a top winning show dog, Clay is a proven producer of multiple champions, beautiful pups with correct angulation and big reach and drive. You can read more about Clay and see a pedigree for our litter on my website on the Trixie and Clay 2010 litter page.

Puppies are expected mid-January. This breeding should produce exceptional show and performance prospects and will be futurity/maturity nominated. Trixie is a proven producer of multiple futurity placing, specialty major winning offspring as well as Champion and Junior Hunter get. She has also passed down her amazing solid temperament, friendly, biddable and sweet to her pups. Trixie flew out to California to meet Clay and his owner reported that Trixie was not fazed in the least by the 6 1/2 hour flight and settled into her house as if she owned the place!

Please email me if you are interested in getting on our waiting list for one of these special puppies.

Jam on her perch

One of Jam's favorite spots to relax is perched on the living room sectional, with a perfect view of the backyard. You never know what wildlife will come into view as we have deer, wild turkey, the occasional red fox or the ever present squirrels. Now that the leaves have fallen from the trees, we have our wonderful view back, which is one the reasons why we fell in love with this house. Check out Jam's blog to see more of her pictures.

More NWC Hunt Test News - Emma

Emma, Jam's grandma and Parker's mother, BISS CH Hibourne's Mountain Magic, earned her first Junior Hunter leg at the young age of 7 1/2 years! Emma, who was a top winning special during her show career, has had very little formal exposure to birds or training but does have natural ability. Never too old to start and she loves it!
Emma with breeder/owner/handler Bonnie Lane of Hibourne Weimaraners. Our friend Lou took these lovely shots, which show off the gorgeous fall foliage, which was the background for the bird field. On the left is Lilly Bourke, with Indy, GraytSky's Independence Day and me with Jam, as we finished our Junior Hunter run.
Jam, hoping I'll tell her she can go find more birds!

New Junior Hunter title for Jam!!!

I am very proud of Jam for finishing her Junior Hunter (JH) title on Saturday at the Nutmeg Weimaraner Club's Hunt Test at Nodbrook in Simsbury, CT. Jam is the second Trixie and Parker puppy to earn a Junior Hunter title.
The judges were very complimentary of Jam's hunting skills, range and strong desire. Since we had entered both days, I ran Jam today for her "bumper" leg and was thrilled with the high scores she earned which included a 9 out of 10 in Trainability. For dogs to earn a Junior Hunter title, they must earn 4 qualifying legs, where they are judged on hunting, bird finding, pointing and trainability on a scale of 0-10, and must earn a minimum of a 5 in each category with an minimum average score of a 7.

Now, on to training for Senior Hunter and we hope to have Jam ready to run in the Spring.

Born to shop

Jam loves to shop, especially when it involves visiting her favorite store, J-B Pet Supply Outlet Store in Oakland, NJ, http://www.jbpet.com/ . She's been a visitor at this store ever since she was a puppy and knows the routine, look cute, jump on counter and a special reward awaits...from the magic treat bucket!
***
J-B's is also one of my favorite stores. The staff is friendly, very knowledgable and extremely helpful. They carry a large selection of every category of dog supplies including toys, bedding and crates, and their prices are competitive.
