Jam has buns in the oven!!!!

We are thrilled to announce that Jam is pregnant!  This was confirmed via ultrasound at our reproductive vet's office.  What an amazing sight to see little puppy fetuses on the screen. Jam's due date is November 29th and it will be a truly Thanksgiving weekend!  This has been a highly anticipated breeding, a line breeding, bringing together some of the top dogs in the breed.  Our waiting list for this litter is almost full with only openings for show/performance pups.

This will be our Wonder litter with AKC registered names based on Stevie Wonder songs.   The pedigree for this "Wonder-ful" breeding is below:

How I love the puppies....

One of the best things about breeding is having the pups come visit.  Like a grandma, I get to have fun with them and then send them home.  Two weeks ago, Ella (Summit x Jam) came for a weekend of shows and Reagan's owners brought her to visit us at the show grounds.  Reagan, (Parker x Savi) is 5 months old and did great when we stacked and gaited her.  She is doing super in obedience class and we are excited about showing her in the Spring.  It was a good experience for her to walk around an all-breed show with all the sights and sounds that are exclusive to a dog show.  And like all our other pups, they go crazy when they see their breeder, (me), as they never forget, no matter how long it's been.  Lucky for me, I had seen Reagan the week before.  Thanks Kathy and Tim for bringing Reagan for a visit!

2nd JHR leg for Mia-Belle!!!

Congratulations to Jessica and Mia-belle, CH Grayhart's Special Request, CDX,RA,JH,OA,NAJ,NSD, RD, VX2, for earning their 2nd JHR leg!!!  Four passing legs are required to achieve the AKC Junior Hunter Retriever (JHR) title.

Since 2011, Weimaraners were deemed eligible to participate in AKC Retriever Hunting Tests. Weimaraners have always been able to participate in AKC Pointer Hunting tests and as a versatile hunting breed many are excellent natural retrievers which makes the JHR venue a new and exciting way to train and test your dog.

2013 GSWC Independent Specialty Show

Weimaraner etched glassware for trophies
Last Sunday was the annual Garden State Weimaraner Club Independent Specialty Show at North Branch Park. The club put on our usual outstanding show and everyone had a great time showing dogs, eating the delicious hot and cold buffet supplied by club members and winning raffle prizes. This was a special occasion as it was the club's 30th anniversary of running our show.  As trophy chair, I was in charge of buying and organizing all the trophies and sponsors for them and was pleased with how they looked set up outside the ring and the winners seemed to enjoy them.

Our Grayhart entry at the show was Ella, Grayhart's How High the Moon, (Summit x Jam), who just turned a year in September.  She had not been shown since a weekend in March and I was pleased with how well she showed after such a long absence from the ring and with little training.  She stacked and gaited like a show dog and won her sweepstakes class.  She also came in 4th place in the competitive Bred-by-Exhibitor class.  A nice showing at such a big show.
The judge greeting Ella before she does an exam.
Gaiting on the down and back. Ella has nice reach and drive.
The Bred-by-Exhibitor class, lined up in catalog order.
Many of our friends were at the specialty and two of our Fast Times pups, CeCe and Reagan, were there to visit.  We had fun playing with the pups and had a fantastic time visiting with friends.

Reagan, 5 months

Reagan, Grayhart's Wild Life, (Parker x Savi) 5 months old, came to visit us at the Garden State Weimaraner Club Specialty show on October 6th. It was great to see how well she is maturing and to spend time with her owner.  We can't wait to for Reagan to start her show career!

Ember goes kayaking!

Ember, Grayhart's Light My Fire, had a lot of firsts this past week.  She made her show debut and won her first point and yesterday, was her maiden voyage aboard a kayak.  Aimee took these stunning photos of Ember with Josh.  I had to share all of them due to their beauty and great poses and expressions by Ember
Ember looks pretty relaxed and comfortable.

Josh seems to be doing all the work while Ember navigates...

Our beautiful girl Trixie, CH Grayhart's I'm Not Really A Waitress, CD, RN, AX, OAJ, V, BROM, celebrated her 9th birthday last weekend.  She is still super active and the resident Princess, demanding attention and bossing her daughters around.  She loved the new knuckle bone I gave her.
