Obedience Run-thru's

To end a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend, I took Trixie to obedience run-thru's at Port Chester Obedience Training Club. The practice runs were quite beneficial and worth the drive through sleet, rain and holiday traffic. We are gearing up for an obedience trial in two weeks at the Lehigh Kennel Club show and want to put on a good performance! These pictures were taken during our obedience lesson but show Trixie working on her broad jump, ironically a problem area for my agility girl.

Targeting is a useful method to train specific behaviors, in this case, jumping straight out from the jump before turning to come front. Trixie is sniffing a special tube that holds the treats. That way, she only gets the reward for doing the right thing.

Good girl!
Nice retrieve on the flat

She's still a silly gray dog, and didn't hesitate to steal treats, in this case steak, off the desk while the trainer and I discuss her performance!

Happy Six-month Birthday to the Trixie/Parker Pups!

Yesterday, the puppies turned six months old. I cannot believe how fast they are growing up and how much joy they have brought into my life and their owner's lives. Mia celebrating in her favorite chair
In recognition of this landmark event, Jam now has her own blog,
also accessible from the sidebar of Trixie and Wotan's blogs.

Ready, set, go!

Evenly matched

...and a visit wouldn't be complete without a little stacking
practice to see how our boy is growing up.
Jam & Ranger had a wonderful time rough housing and chasing each other around the yard. Utterly exhausted, Jam was snoring in her crate as we drove off for our Thanksgiving dinner.

The Pyramid : Then and Now

The Pyramid was a wonderful toy introduced to the pups in their whelping box when they were
23 days old. At that time, purple girl AKA Jam, was enamored with this interactive toy and the most adventurous in her exploration of the pyramid.

Here she is climbing and tasting...everything went in the mouth at this age.

A perfect puppy snoozing spot. Hard to believe she was this little once.

Jam now with her still favorite toy! Doing what weims do best....nooking!

The squeakers still work! An amazing feat for any toy to survive in this house.

This is about as far in as the head will go.

The Many Faces of Mia

Mia, in her favorite chair, where she can watch the world and wait for Michele to come home from work.

Enjoying the fall foliage

Mia looks so much like Momma Trixie in this picture.

The comic...apparently Mia is a hit wherever she goes, whether it be the bank or Petsmart, everyone fawns over her and she just loves the attention!

A Day in the Life of Ranger

Ranger romps in his big backyard

He loves to go to the park to play. Mom bought him this great sweater for those chilly fall days.

Energizer bunny impression!
Sometimes we go to the beautiful beaches on Long Island near our house.

At night, we hang out and watch tv.

Sweet dreams...

Versatile Trixie

A busy week for Trixie...Monday, the new agility session began and you could see how happy she was to be back playing her favorite game.
Thursday, Trixie resumed her modelling career and traveled into NYC for a photoshoot for Comcast's latest ad campaign. It took great skill and hours of training (not!) for Trixie to nail the different poses on a couch with the human models! We then drove back home for obedience class. And today, she had fun running in the field and finding birds...Who knows what fun tomorrow will bring!

Fun in the Field for Jam & Trixie

Jam was introduced to birds for the first time today What's that scent? Bird, did someone say bird? The birds, pigeons and quail were hidden in special cages with remote control launchers.

Jam held her ground while we flushed the bird and she watched it fly away.

Off to find the next bird...this girl can move!

There goes another one...

Trixie took a turn and loved the wild pheasantsYes, she is on point...can't always be in the right place at the right time for the perfect picture but this will do!
