AKC Meet the Breeds - Part 1
![]() |
Savi & Jo posing by a cool dog sculpture that was in the lobby on our way in - it was on sale for $3500! |
The ambassadogs for the WCA - were Parker, BISS GCH HiBourne's It's All About Me, BROM, with owner/breeder, Bonnie Lane and our Savi, Grayhart's Shear Genius,JH,NSD,NRD,CGC, with my daughter, who did an awesome job handling her all day. My hubby was also there to help and spoke to many people, educating them on the breed. A real family day!
The event was very crowded and everyone who walked by wanted a chance to pet, kiss and hug Savi.
And it was nonstop flashbulbs as too many people to count, wanted a photo op with our supermodel, Savi.
Savi turned on the charm and was an awesome representative for our breed, impressing everyone she met with her sweet disposition, stable temperament and terrific training.
The Weimaraner booth, representing the Weimaraner Club of America, Garden State and Long Island Weimaraner Clubs, was decorated with photos of Weims doing everything from agility, obedience, swimming, hunting, showing, etc. There were also informational handouts on the breed and books for people to peruse.
And the best part for Savi - all the yummy treats she got!

Questions, questions, questions...
One of the most common questions we get either from general puppy inquiries or from prospective owners is "Can we pick our own puppy?" The answer is a resounding "NO!"
Weimaraners are an extremely active, high energy and intelligent breed and are not for everyone. We expect our puppy people to read and understand the Weimaraner standard and if possible visit with our dogs, to ensure that a Weimaraner is the right breed for them and their family and also have studied our website to understand the type of versatile Weimaraners we strive to produce. Our puppy people understand the time, energy and commitment it takes to own a Weimaraner. We expect our puppy people to commit to daily, intensive exercise and training throughout the life of the dog, as well as weekly formal training classes with the pup through adulthood, two to three years of age, preferably at a certified dog training facility.
With all that said, our goal is to carefully place each pup with a well-suited family, ideally, in a hunting or competition or experienced Weimaraner home. In addition, a few of our pups become family companions in active pet homes. We make every effort to match each owner or family with the pup that best suits them. To do this, we gather information from prospective owners about their life style, experience in dogs, and expectations for their pup. We also keep careful records of each puppy's reactions and personality to assist in placement. During their seventh week, we evaluate the puppies' temperaments, using Sheila Booth's "Positive Puppy Preview." In the eighth week, we have respected breeders evaluate their conformation.
After patiently waiting for all the evaluations to be completed, the new owners will be informed which special pup will be theirs. This usually occurs the day prior to the pups going to their new homes.
