Life still goes on and we needed to keep on schedule and Trixie had her physical therapy appointment today at Aquadog in Flanders, NJ. If you've notice that we haven't shown Trixie much in many posts it's because she had been recuperating from an Iliopsoas Strain. You can read about it at the link but with rest, stretches and strengthening, this injury, common in performance dogs, has a very high rate of complete recovery. We expect Trixie to be back in agility very soon. Today, Trixie was introduced to the underwater treadmill:
After her workout, Petra of Aquadog, showed us some new stretches and strengthening exercises for Trixie, using a box and a peanut ball. Petra is thrilled with how well Trixie has healed and prognosis is great. Trixie was her typical ham, doing every trick for the treats as she was shown how to do the stretches. Trixie offered silly behaviors like jumping all the way up on the ball or cheating by stepping on the treadmill for support. Anyway, I know what our homework is and away we went with our newly purchased peanut ball and list of exercises.
Due to the big storm, field training is cancelled for the week and we're not sure when we'll be able to resume. Lots of other fun and important things to work on while we are home. More tomorrow!
