Flashback Black Friday 2009: Trixie for Banana Republic

In honor of Black Friday, here is Trixie's Black Friday ad for Banana Republic in 2009. Her image was on the Banana Republic website and in all their stores, from giant posters to POS displays, for just one day, that big shopping day after Thanksgiving, promoting cashmere sweaters. Probably my favorite pic of my girl and taken by noted photographer Richard Phibbs. Trixie is CH GraytSky's I'm Not Really A Waitress, CD,RN,AX,OAJ, V, BROM.

Flashback Friday: The Black Friday 2009

Wishing all our family and friends a wonderful Thanksgiving!
***
The stunning picture above is Trixie, posing in cashmere for Banana Republic, taken by photographer Richard Phibbs, and this ad appeared on the Banana Rebublic website on November 27, 2009, promoting their day after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday sale.
It was excited when I visited the local Banana Republic store and was quite excited to see this poster of Trixie everywhere! There was a giant size version in the store window and poster sizes located in the men's and women's departments with the cashmere sweaters she was promoting. I am proud of Trixie, our star!

Where has the summer gone! Cape Cod & other adventures...

This is probably the longest I have ever gone between blog updates and so much news to share.  We spent the summer vacationing, traveling from Cape Cod to Alabama, competing in dog shows and agility trials, visiting with friends and enjoying many of the pups we've bred in addition to our own girls.  There was also a major health scare with Savi, who has recovered completely, that I will share once the blog is up to date.  The summer included show wins, agility titles, legs and placements and great times with the dogs for all the Grayhart family. We were fortunate to have a number of Grayhart pups come visit and loved having them here.

Now that the weather has gotten cooler and the fall is almost upon us, we have switched gears and started field training, planning our fall show schedule which includes our favorite show, my club, the Garden State Weimaraner Club Independent Specialty, that is also hosting the Weimaraner Club of America Eastern Futurity and Maturity and gearing up to breed Jam.  Weekly agility classes are a highlight of our week as both Jam and Savi, along with their handler, continue to improve.

Here are a few pictures from our annual Cape Cod holiday and we are blessed to be able to spend two weeks in this beautiful place.  The dogs consider it heaven!

Savi is our star swimmer and retriever!
She loves to swim and impatiently waits for us to go for our multiple walks/swims each day on the Cape, and will even run down to the marsh with the bumper in her mouth.

Presley, above, spent the summer with us at Grayhart boot camp, learning to swim and just having a great time!
The gorgeous view from our deck.
Plenty of room to run through the salt marsh.
 Presley, below, pure joy!
A favorite activity for Jam and Trixie is squirrel hunting in the decayed wood pilings.

Jam becomes a Grand Champion!!!!

In July, we went on our 2014 Grayhart Southern Adventure with Jam and Presely!  This included the Greenville, SC dog show circuit, visiting Debbie Moody, who owns two Grayhart girls, in the stunning mountains of North Carolina and a quick trip to Alabama to visit UofA.

The first day of the Greenville Circuit was the Piedmont Kennel Club show.  We were thrilled for Jam, the only owner-breeder-handler in a very competitive entry of Weims, to go Select Bitch for a 4-pt Grand Champion (GCH) Major and be awarded Best of Breed Owner-Handler.  Jam, who is sparingly specialed,  she's been busy with agility, pups and many other things, only needed two singles to finish her GCH title so finishing in a big way was tons of fun.  Jam also was eligible to compete in the Owner-Handler group and showed well, photo above.

Jam is the first Grand Champion in her litter and the second Grayhart dog to earn this title, with Bravo being the first.

Very proud to announce...Jam is now GCH Grayhart's Purple Haze, CD,JH,AX,AXJ,SD,VX!!!

What's up next for Jam?  She will be competing in some local agility trials and will be bred on her next season for her final litter.

Snow Angels

The Northeast was hit with it's first major snowstorm of the season on December 14th.  As usual, when we have big things planned, the weather does not always cooperate.  Savi was supposed to get dropped off at her brother, Memphis' house, and it was iffy if we would be able to make the hour drive north in what was predicted to be a terrible snow storm with accumulations of 8-12 inches!
I decided to leave early in the morning to beat the main part of the storm and with the 4-wheel drive SUV, we carefully made the drive to Putnam County, a gorgeous community an hour and half north of New York city on the Connecticut border.  I arrived and immediately showed Savi the property lines (orange flags) for the Invisible Fence and then it was playtime with her littermate, Memphis.  They played and played.....
 and played....
 and Savi even flew!
Even though they are from the same litter, Memphis is a big boy and Savi is a little girl.  Both have lovely lines with impressive chests and know how to move!  Savi may be small but is faster and more agile than her brother.  We trained both pups together from the time they were 8 weeks old so they get along really well and are obedient.

Playing in the snow is exhausting...time for a nap with the kids...

Savi is on vacation for a few weeks as we are busy with Jam's litter of seven puppies.  Memphis' family adores her and Savi fits right in as if she grew up in their house.  She especially loves the little kids and does not let them out of her sight.  This is a nice warm-up for Memphis' family to get used to having two Weims as one of our Wonder pups will be going home with them the end of January. Thanks to Meridith for these awesome shots and taking such great care of our girl.

First snow of the season

Savi & Trixie
In the Northeast, we received our first storm of Winter 2013 and it turned our yard into a winter wonderland.  The girls donned their ChillyDog coats and were ready to play in the snow.
Savi's switch went off and she had a case of the zoomies!
 Flying Weim

After a fun romp in the yard, time to go warm up back in the house.
