L'Oreal Preview Day!

Yesterday, we had a super fun day for a great cause at Loreal's Your Dog is Worth it Too preview day! Supporting rescues & the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure! Savi & Memphis were ambassadogs for TriState Weimaraner Rescue, we played Rescue Bingo, dogs could swim in the special pools, & Loreal gave out cool gift bags with tons of goodies with our registration for next Saturday's big event!
The big event is Saturday, August 18th and you can still attend and either register ahead of time or at the event.
Above is the gift bag with the regular $10 registration and below, is the deluxe bag with the $25 special donor registration.  Both are filled with awesome L'Oreal, Lancome and other goodies!
Junie and Savi posing in front of TriState Weimaraner Rescue's booth.
There were approximately 35 rescue groups at yesterday's event but next week, there will be many more plus vendors and all kinds of events like dock diving and contests.
There was even a pig rescue group in attendance!  Savi wanted to make friends with Mr. Pig!
A number of pools were set up for the dogs to take a dip and cool off!  Savi enjoyed a little swim.
The pools had carpeted ramps for the dogs to get into the pools and steps for them to exit.
Littermates Savi and Memphis enjoyed all the people and dogs and we look forward helping TSWR next week at the big event - hope you can join us at L'Oreal Your Dog is Worth it Too day!

All for a good cause

A few weeks ago we participated in the Three Scoops of Vanilla Jewelry Fundraiser to benefit TriState Weimaraner Rescue.  My goodies arrived today and it felt like my birthday.  The pieces are more beautiful in person than the pictures show.  As I am fortunate to already own a number of Weimaraner pendants, I decided to order a different kind of piece and Erin, the owner, was kind enough to make this gorgeous amethyst necklace with the heart pendant.  It also came with matching earrings!
It was a terrific fundraiser, with 50% of the sales from the special auction items and 25% of all sales that day donated to TSWR.  This custom "Weimstopper" was a specialty item and was offered in two color combos and we bought the pink/purple design.
The Weimstopper was christened on a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Even the rear view of this piece is stunning!

Cinco de Weimo!

Trixie during her demo
A fun day was had by all at the Tri-State Weimaraner Rescue's 6th Annual Picnic held at the Ironwood Outdoor Center in Lumberton, NJ.  The forecast was for a sunny day in the 80's but that never happened and the temps stayed cool in the high 60's and the day was overcast.  The drab weather did not ruin the day and it was amazing to see dozens of Weims run loose together, playing and socializing, while their owners enjoyed good food and a terrific raffle.
Savi takes a turn
We volunteered to bring some agility equipment for a demo and to let the other Weims take a try at our favorite sport.
Trixie sported her new Mod Dog collar for the occasion...
Ha, I'm the Weim Whisperer! This is only about half the dogs that ended up surrounding me and sitting for a treat!
A mix of gray and blue Weims frolicked in the huge fenced area and the people food was kept in the smaller fenced area by the pool.
Trying to get a group picture with all those people and dogs was a challenge for sure!
This was an excellent fundraiser for a great cause.  At the end of the summer, TSWR holds another event at Ironwood where the dogs get to swim in the pools before they are drained for the season.

4th Annual TSWR Hair of the Dog 5K & Pet Expo - Part 2 - Lure Coursing

Savi looking spiffy in the hot pink coursing coat.
One of the fun activities they offered at the event was Lure Coursing  practice runs.  Traditionally, lure coursing has been a performance event for sighthounds but recently, the AKC has made it a titling event called Coursing Ability Test for all-breeds. The AKC offers this program that the dogs and owners love so well, to test the dogs basic coursing instinct or hunting by sight ability.  The dogs chase an artificial lure, in an open field and are judged by two judges, on the dogs overall ability, speed, endurance, agility, and how well they follow the lure. The upside of this event is the dogs are kept in such good healthy shape, by doing something that comes naturally and that they really like to do.
Savi is totally fixated on the other dogs chasing the lure aka the plastic bags!
The lure coursing was run by PawPals PCA who offer weekly training and practice sessions in our area.  It is a great way to cross train your dogs for other dog sports such as agility.
Showing me how to get Savi ready at the start line...waiting for the signal...
Release the dog on the "T" of Tallyho!!!  and Savi was off like a bullet chasing the lure!

Savi was quite impressive in her run and Mike Stoble from PCA said she was a natural and great PR as the crowd cheered her on during her awesome run.  He encouraged us to come to his practices.
Jam took a turn but wasn't quite as enthusiastic as her sister.  I think she thought there would be birds out in the field and was disappointed not to find any.  She had a good run but will stick to hunting birds.

Our friends Kellyann and her 9-yr old June at the start line.  June was amazing!

4th Annual TSWR Hair of the Dog 5K & Pet Expo - Part 1

On Sunday, we attended the 4th Annual TriState Weimaraner Rescue Hair of the Dog 5K & Pet Expo.  This event is held at the beautiful Silver Decoy Winery and a major fundraiser for TSWR.  The day was cloudy and very chilly, but the rain held off and the temps made for comfortable race conditions.  We opted to walk the 5k with our group of dogs and really enjoyed it.
The 5k took us through the local area and ended back at the winery where they offered wine tasting, live music and other fun activities.  All the runners received nice gift bags, etched wine glasses and event t-shirts.
Refreshing drinks along the route for everyone including the dogs.  Note how my girls didn't even have to ask the man to hold the cup for them to drink...they are princesses of course!

Yay - we made it to the finish line.  From l-r: Kellyann, Haze, June, me, Jam and Savi
Haze getting kisses from his momma.
Savi getting a quick cuddle as she watches the lure coursing....a new and exciting activity for her!  More on that in Part 2...

Hair of the Dog, whaaaat?

This is a pirated/borrowed post from our friend, Hot Dog Junie's blog. Our friends, Kel and Chris came over for a doggie playdate with their girl, June, and a dog they are fostering, Haze, who is available through TriState Weimaraner Rescue.  Haze is an awesome 4 year old purebred Weimaraner who is well-mannered, gets along with other dogs, trained and looking for his forever home.  I gave him a mani-pedi and he sat like a pro, letting me dremel his nails.  We had a great day, walking and letting the dogs play in the yard.

Hair of the Dog, whaaaat?***

I did a 5k yesterday!.... and lemme tell you all sumfin': I am NOT doing another 5k this month... I am too old for this sh*t BOL... This playdate yesterday I think was torture... We walked for so long up and down hills wif Auntie Linda and Jam & Savi. We were EXHAUSTED! (I am still tired today and wanted no part of a long fast fast again wif the Ma)
We slept the whole ride home! I was in my crate, so Da took a picture of Haze:

Seriously though we had FUN! With a capital F-you-enn! When we first got there all 3 girls were outside and then Jam and Trixie got crated since I never was there before and Haze was there but awhile ago. Savi was our hostess! We hung on the deck in the sunshine and I got to de-stuff one of the toys in the puppy toybox! Savi and Haze: Then they ate lunch which smelled delish! After lunch, they took the boy back on the deck for a mani-pedi and Da got a lesson on how to dremmel...not that he's gonna come near ME with one of those things, but it's good to know, ya know?

After our fast fast, we got to play in the yard OFF LEASH!! Haze went up the teeter and I was showing off my down-stay! The girls were wrasslin' like lunatix... personally i can not beleive how full of energy that pbp is! After that long walk, she was still raring to go! And she is relentless with Jam! Da took lotsa pictures. I'm the one who is fuzzy (pink and brown collar) Haze has a red collar/prong and a blue leash, Jam has a purple collar and Savi is the little one in the pinkish collar.
We really had a GRAY-T time and hope to do it again soon...

Oh, and I also wanted to share a new nickname for the fosterboy: Hazelnuts!!!

Ma's little cousin came up with that one on Easter. We all laughed. It fits, too because he is a little nuts BOL! He and I both enjoyed all the company on Easter at Ma and Da's.
