Happy Holidays from the Grayhart Gang!

Mason's First Snow!

The snow made a great playground for Mason, Grayhart's Daily Special. I think this boy loves the snow!

Snow Angel

Trudy, Grayhart's Special Reserve, looking quite fabulous in her new Chilly Dogs coat, was dressed perfectly for the 18 inches of snow the North East blizzard left in her backyard.
Trudy and the kids had a great time playing and romping in the snow.

Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow!

Although the weather forecasters predicted 12-18" of snow for our area not surprisingly, they were wrong and we only received about 8-10". This was still plenty of snow for the dogs to enjoy and run around in. Jam, above, loves the snow and thinks there is nothing better than running in it at maximum speed. Too bad my camera isn't equipped to catch those pictures.Wotan is another fan of the snow and what could be better than retrieving and playing keep away from Jam!
Check out Wotan's and Jam's blogs for more fun snow play pictures.
She may be faster but he is much more experienced at this game!
Trixie was not so enthusiastic about the snow. Tastes good but after awhile she wanted to go inside and curl up on the couch...a girl's prerogative.

Snow Day for Sky in Western North Carolina!

Pictures from yesterday, Sky, Grayhart Lightfoot Early Morning Rain, JH, NSD, enjoying the early snowstorm that hit Western North Carolina.

According to Sky's owner, Debbie, they rarely get snow this early in the season and never in these amounts. This storm may be recordbreaking in the amount of snowfall. We'll be getting ready in New Jersey for this storm and look forward to playing in the snow with our dogs.

Great Poster from the AKC: Where did all the dogs go?

During this season of giving, think twice before you donate to an animal rights group, such as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), PETA or ASPCA, who is working to eliminate your right to own dogs. Donate to your local shelter or breed rescue groups where you know the funds are going directly to help the animals, not to lobbying funds or direct mail campaigns to ultimately end animal ownership.

Jam in Vanity Fair Magazine!

Hot off the newsstand, Jam appears in the January 2010 issue of Vanity Fair magazine with Twilight actress, Anna Kendrick. Jam is definitely on her way to supermodel status!

Monty's new career

Here comes Monty! It is always exciting to start a new dog on birds and we have really enjoyed seeing Monty run in the field and see how much natural ability he has. This young dog, has a lot of potential and we plan on training him for his Junior Hunter and to possibly be his owner's personal hunting dog.
With little exposure, Monty uses his nose and is smart enough to know that the birds are in the cover.
Monty, out of our Trixie/Parker litter, is following in the pawprints of his littermates, Sky and Jam, who already have their Junior Hunter titles.Beautiful point!
We add the check cord to control him and teach him to whoa, hold his point, until we flush the bird.

No slacking here...

We've been very busy with family, friends and dogs and just have not had much time to update the blog recently. I have pictures to share that will appear soon, I promise. If you haven't seen Jam's video, click on Jam's blog for what we think is an amusing little video from our hike last week. Take note while watching Jam run like a banchee, that this is the typical energy level of a Weimaraner. Fun for us but not for everyone. Once the dogs have enough exercise, physical and mental stimulation, they are quite content to become couch or should I say chair potatoes! This is their favorite chair and actually, a true Weimaraner family hand me down from my husband's parents, whose Weimaraner would worm her way onto the chair and push off which ever human would have the audacity to sit in her chair!
