Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow!
Although the weather forecasters predicted 12-18" of snow for our area not surprisingly, they were wrong and we only received about 8-10". This was still plenty of snow for the dogs to enjoy and run around in. Jam, above, loves the snow and thinks there is nothing better than running in it at maximum speed. Too bad my camera isn't equipped to catch those pictures.Wotan is another fan of the snow and what could be better than retrieving and playing keep away from Jam!
Check out Wotan's and Jam's blogs for more fun snow play pictures.
She may be faster but he is much more experienced at this game!
Trixie was not so enthusiastic about the snow. Tastes good but after awhile she wanted to go inside and curl up on the couch...a girl's prerogative.

Great Poster from the AKC: Where did all the dogs go?
During this season of giving, think twice before you donate to an animal rights group, such as the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), PETA or ASPCA, who is working to eliminate your right to own dogs. Donate to your local shelter or breed rescue groups where you know the funds are going directly to help the animals, not to lobbying funds or direct mail campaigns to ultimately end animal ownership.

Monty's new career
Here comes Monty! It is always exciting to start a new dog on birds and we have really enjoyed seeing Monty run in the field and see how much natural ability he has. This young dog, has a lot of potential and we plan on training him for his Junior Hunter and to possibly be his owner's personal hunting dog.
With little exposure, Monty uses his nose and is smart enough to know that the birds are in the cover.

No slacking here...
We've been very busy with family, friends and dogs and just have not had much time to update the blog recently. I have pictures to share that will appear soon, I promise. If you haven't seen Jam's video, click on Jam's blog for what we think is an amusing little video from our hike last week. Take note while watching Jam run like a banchee, that this is the typical energy level of a Weimaraner. Fun for us but not for everyone. Once the dogs have enough exercise, physical and mental stimulation, they are quite content to become couch or should I say chair potatoes! This is their favorite chair and actually, a true Weimaraner family hand me down from my husband's parents, whose Weimaraner would worm her way onto the chair and push off which ever human would have the audacity to sit in her chair!

Happy Thanksgiving!
***
The stunning picture above is Trixie, posing in cashmere for Banana Republic, taken by photographer Richard Phibbs, and this ad appears on the Banana Rebublic website today, promoting their day after Thanksgiving aka Black Friday sale. There may even be in-store displays with her image...I'll just have to check out the store tomorrow.
***
Update: I visited the local Banana Republic store and was quite excited to see this poster of Trixie everywhere! There was a giant size version in the store window and poster sizes located in the men's and women's departments with the cashmere sweaters she is promoting. I am proud of Trixie, our star!

Is she or isn't she?
On top of my usual busy and fun schedule this week, which has kept me from updating the blog and I do have some terrific field pictures to share, we've been patiently waiting for December 11th to roll around to confirm if Trixie is pregnant via ultrasound. It is too soon to see any physical signs but in a few weeks, it will be apparent. I caught her in the act, perusing my desk for goodies, whether it be a leftover cracker, post-it note or whatever strikes her fancy.

Yippee!
This was our cool picture of the day from our field training session on Monday. Katie, Hibourne's Foolish Pleasure, Jam's half sister (Mariah/Parker), owned/bred by Bonnie and Steve Lane, is at the beginning stages of her exposure to birds but boy does she have natural ability and thinks the birds are something to jump about!

Puppies are expected mid-January. This breeding should produce exceptional show and performance prospects and will be futurity/maturity nominated. Trixie is a proven producer of multiple futurity placing, specialty major winning offspring as well as Champion and Junior Hunter get. She has also passed down her amazing solid temperament, friendly, biddable and sweet to her pups. Trixie flew out to California to meet Clay and his owner reported that Trixie was not fazed in the least by the 6 1/2 hour flight and settled into her house as if she owned the place!

Please email me if you are interested in getting on our waiting list for one of these special puppies.
Jam on her perch
One of Jam's favorite spots to relax is perched on the living room sectional, with a perfect view of the backyard. You never know what wildlife will come into view as we have deer, wild turkey, the occasional red fox or the ever present squirrels. Now that the leaves have fallen from the trees, we have our wonderful view back, which is one the reasons why we fell in love with this house. Check out Jam's blog to see more of her pictures.
