Jersey's Junior Hunter Double Q's!!!
To add to our terrific weekend of hunt test news, Jersey, Grayhart's Goin Someplace Special, at only 7 months of age, qualified twice yesterday, earning two Junior Hunter legs. Jersey, along with her owner Rachel and Rachel's mom, Liz, drove 4 1/2 hours to attend the double hunt test weekend in Kentucky. The first day was a warm up for Jersey and she really showed her natural ability on the second day.

Jam does it again and earns JH leg #3!
***
Another great day at the hunt test on a gorgeous fall day at Sarnoff Preserve on Long Island. Jam earned her third Junior Hunter leg, that's three in a row, and friend Lilly with Indy, earned his second JH leg. We are looking forward to the next hunt test in November to finish their titles.

Jam's 2nd JH leg
We are very proud of Jam, Grayhart's Purple Haze, for earning her 2nd Junior Hunter leg today at the Long Island Pointing Dog Field Trial Club!
Her scores were respectable and she even earned a 9 out of 10 in the pointing category for her beautiful, steady point.
Also qualifying today, pictured on the right, our good friend Lilly Bourke with Indy, GraytSky's Independence Day, CD,NSD, who at the age of 8 years young, with no prior field training, earned his first JH leg! A good day in the field for our gray dogs.

Daddy Parker is very special
A beautiful Best of Breed win picture of Parker, CH Hibourne's It's All About Me, with handler Adam Bernardin. Parker is the sire of our first litter with Trixie (Jam's daddy) and currently has a career as a show dog being specialed in the Northeast. Parker recently placed 2nd in the Eastern Maturity and later that day, received an Award of Merit at the Del Val Weimaraner Club's Specialty Show. Congratulations to owners/breeders Bonnie and Steve Lane!

Sneak peak
A preview of two of the fabulous shots of Sky (above) and Marshall with Laura (below), taken by Sara Renee during their photoshoot at the WCA Central Futurity in Indiana.
Sara Renee is an extremely gifted photographer, Weim lover and dedicated dog rescue hero. We were so excited when Sara agreed to accept our request for this assignment, even though she was showing her own girl, Vera, at the Futurity, who showed beautifully and earned a 2nd place in her class. Bonnie Lane and I wanted to do something very special for Laura to celebrate her finishing Marshall's show championship and being the first Trixie and Parker champion. We think that this was the perfect gift!

Busy Weekend...
While Mason was at shows in Maryland, two of the other Trixie-Zeke pups were busy making their debuts in the show ring and field test.Jersey, Grayhart's Goin Someplace Special, with handler (Weim grandma) Liz Paxson at the NAVHDA test in Ohio.
Unfortunately, Jersey did not prize, NAVHDA speak for passing, because she just wouldn't go in the water...still a work in progress for this promising young pup.
On a positive note, Jersey had three finds in the bird field and a beautiful point on one of them. She received many compliment on her natural ability and will continue to train for hunt tests and then back to the show ring.

Mia-belle, Grayhart's Special Request, made her show debut with owner Jessica, at a small show in North Carolina. Mia-belle was the only Weim entry, so no points were awarded but it was a great way for them to gain show experience and let Mia-belle have fun in the ring.

GSWC Specialty Show Shots
Last Sunday, we spent a glorious day showing and socializing at the Garden State Weimaraner Club's Annual Independent Specialty Show at North Branch Park in New Jersey. I was proud of how the Grayhart dogs showed, unfortunately, no big wins, but everyone had a wonderful time. The club put on a wonderful lunch buffet and the trophies that I had purchased, were well received.
A Parker son, not one of mine, Hibourne's Smarty Jones, aka Cooper, and breeder Steve Lane won Best in Sweeps! Congratulations!
Zeke's breeder Pat Obrien, seen here warming Trudy up for the ring.
Trudy, Grayhart's Special Reserve, showed well for a young pup.

Retrieving Ratings Practive for Sky and Mia-belle
***
Our two Southern Grayhart girls, Sky and Mia-belle, attended the Tarheel Weimaraner Club's Retrieving Practice day on September 26th, in Clayton, North Carolina, and had a blast swimming and playing with the dogs. The practice day was to help handlers and their dogs prepare for the WCA Retriver Ratings Test that the Tarheel Club was hosting the following day.
Sky checking out the lake.
Debbie braved the water and taught Mia-belle how to swim, while Sky supervised! Get me out of this water!
Mia-belle watches attentively - so many cool things happening here. Now for the bird retrieve...

The dog must retrieve the bird into the circle where the handler must stay. The next day, Sky had an impressive run in the actual test, passed the land portion, then performed a beautiful water retrieve only to bypass Debbie and the circle and took the bird over by the judges and proceeded to pluck feathers...no passing score for Sky that day. We are quite sure that with a little more practice Sky will earn that Novice Retrieving Dog title.
