Bon jour

Trixie and the other dogs were left home while we took a mini-vacation to the beautiful, but cold city of Montreal. The sidewalks were covered in ice which made walking a treacherous event. Most people were underground at the famous malls and markets, especially on this day, Boxing Day, which in Montreal is considered a holiday.
Business was slow for the horse drawn carriages outside the church of Notre Dame. The carved exit doors of the famous Montreal Cathedral of Notre DameThe Cathedral was filled with incredible artwork and handcarved woodwork.

The amazing stained glass was a lovely backdrop framing the alter.

French street signs

Montreal even has their own Chinatown! We didn't have time to compare the Montreal Chinese food to that in NYC, but we did enjoy buttery croissants for breakfast and a wonderful traditional French meal for dinner. The meal started with an amuse bouche, which is a small bite to tease the mouth, made of prosciutto wrapped fig, then foie gras with toast points, a delicious ox cheek entree over spinach and of course, dessert. For dessert, we shared a Parisian style frozen cake and sweet raspberry sorbet...magnifique!

Sunday snow

Soft, fresh snow was perfect for playing in.
Snowcones anyone?
Roughhousing and Trixie telling Jam whose the boss...
Hockey stop!
I said enough already!
Tag! You're it!
Catch me if you can!
Run, run, run....what an amazing pair these two girls are!

Fresh dusting...

New Jersey received another 3 inches of snow overnight into morning to put a soft layer of powder on top of the snow dumped from Friday's storm. We won't be eating al fresco anytime soon!View from one of the kitchen windows.
Winter wonderland
The plow has not arrived yet to clear the new snow, but you can see the pile on the left from Friday's storm.

Surprise Snow Day

With a severe winter storm upon us, school was cancelled and we spent the afternoon playing in the snow with the dogs. Snow totals of 10 inches are expected.Trixie stays warm in her Chillydogs coat.
Attempting to get all three dogs together was challenging as the snow was a major distraction, good to eat and run around in.
The girls tearing around the yard playing catch me if you can.No, this is not a Rorschach test...tangle of Weimie legs!

This would have been a lovely portrait of the dogs if Jam could only stay still for minute! Puppy ADD!

Check out Jam and Wotan's blogs more fun in the snow pictures.

Time to go snuggle by the fire...

Woo Hoo! Trixie's First CDX Leg

At the Lehigh Kennel Club Show this weekend, Trixie qualified in Open A to earn her first CDX leg!
I am very proud of my girl for performing well in such a noisy and distracting venue. This trial takes place simultaneously with an all breed show and the obedience rings are adjacent to the breed judging. Our ring was exposed on three sides, next to the entrance/exit door with people and dogs constantly walking by or stopping to watch.
The Open class exercises are all performed off leash and include a heeling pattern, drop on recall, retrieve on the flat and over a jump and the broad jump. Once the individual exercises are completed, all of the dogs are brought into the ring for out of sight group sits and stays, lasting 3 and 5 minutes respectively. This class is sometimes referred to as the heartbreak class due to the high level of difficulty of some of the exercises for some dogs, especially the out of sight stays.
We need two more CDX legs for Trixie to earn her Companion Dog Excellent title.

Lounging on Location

Trixie, resting between takes, at her Comcast photo shoot last month. Her agent just sent us these pictures.
As you can see, the models are well taken care of and provided with a comfy place to hang out. We also got to nosh on a delicious catered buffet with all of Trixie's favorites including bran muffins, bacon and bottled water!

Sky is both beautiful and birdy! Sky, Grayhart Lightfoot Early Morning Rain,
out of our Trixie/Parker litter, earned her first Junior Hunter leg today at a hunt test at the Palmetto Pointing Breed Club in Walhalla, SC, at six months and 1 week of age. Sky is the first puppy of this litter to earn an AKC title leg.
We are extremely proud of Debbie and her very talented Sky!

Trixie & her not so little baby...

Trixie & Jam were so good posing while we tried to get the perfect shot to use for our holiday card. This truly tests their group staying skills!
These are crops of the shots with my daughter and Wotan. and then they got so tired...

A Foxy Visitor

This cute red fox cut across our front lawn yesterday morning.

She knows better than to hang out in our backyard, which is considered Weimaraner country.
